Hello, and welcome to your 6th grade Geography course! We are pleased to introduce you to our new course site where you can find all of your class information in one place.
The lesson detailed in this course is centered around the major geographical regions of the United States of America. Our class this semester is working on the flipped classroom model, so students will perform traditionally 'in-class' assignments at home, and in the classroom they will work to produce a product of their learning. Students will learn about U.S. regions, states, and capitols, as well as the relationship between these areas and the people native to these lands. Using varied assessments and activities that support active learning and complex thinking skills, we aim to help our students achieve more than simple test scores. We aim to provide a contextual learning environment where students can learn about geography in new and meaningful ways related not just to rote memorization, but to deeper a understanding of the world around them.
